Sorcerors who can change into animal form? Anyone read Carlos Casteneda?

Werewolves and all that jazz can usually be tracked back to local folklore, written records of werewolves go back all the way to ancient Greece, but the idea itself along with thousands of other mythical creatures and monster exist since the dawn of modern man.

The books of Carlos Casteneda can be interesting but should certainly not be read as if it contained encyclopedic knowledge.

yes i do actually, well some of it, since there was a lot of evidence he could not produce, though he’s certainly not the only one from which my own theories are formed, i do love reading his work and others’ as well. oh i’m not sure if you’ve read the art of dreaming but it’s one of my favorites! you should definetely get ahold of it if you haven’t already. it’a pretty easy read in my opinion and just fun to take in even if you don’t believe it all.

Other books along the same line as Carlos Castenada?

I’ve looked for other books in Anthropolgy and Religion but I haven’t really been able to find anything. Any suggestions?

Don Miguel Ruiz is quite good and bases much of his work upon toltec concepts. Then there is Jose Arguelles who, I think, bases his work upon the Maya. Are you interested in indigenous spiritual practices in general or just those related to Yaqui shamanism more or less?

“Riding Windhorses” by author whose name I now forget is a wonderful document about Mongolian shamanism. Have you read Michael Herner’s “Way of The Shaman“? It is excellent. “Black Elk Speaks” is also a must-read. You might also find Alberto Villoldo’s books about Incan Energy Healing Techniques enjoyable.
