Can a Shamanic practitioner get a Peyote Licence in California?
Can a Shamanic practitioner with Native American blood get a Peyote Licence in California? If so, how would I go about getting one?
Short answer: No.
Long answer: Peyote can only be possessed by enrolled members of US federally recognized tribes. Peyote is typically used as part of Native American Church ceremonies. The American Indian Religious Freedom Act passed in 1978 finally made legal what our people have been practicing for centuries.
